FAQ✽ What is a "zine" or "fanzine"? ✽
A zine is an unofficial, fan-created "magazine" of creative work (often artwork and writing) usually focused around a particular fandom or theme.
✽ What is the rating of this Zine? ✽
The zine will be rated 18+ due to the maturity rating of the original game. Blood and horror-esque content may be present in the zine.
✽ Will the Zine be physical or digital? ✽
This will be a physical zine with merchandise and a PDF version available.
✽ What ship dynamic will the zine focus on?✽
This is an EiTakuEi zine which means that both top/bottom dynamics (EiTaku and TakuEi) will be shown.
✽What size will this Zine be printed in? ✽
The zine will be A5 size.
✽ How old do you have to be to participate? ✽
All applicants must be 18 years by the time of acceptance emails going out.
✽ Will content that applicants create outside of the zine affect their acceptance? ✽
So long as your conduct is respectful and you keep your content professionally segregated, we do not care what you enjoy or have created for. Please warn for any triggering content in your application if applicable.
✽ Is traditional art allowed?✽
Yes! As long you have a high quality scan of your work and follow the template sizes provided.
✽Can I apply for multiple roles?✽
Yes, but contributors will only be accepted for one role.
✽ How many contributors are you looking for? ✽
The contributor spread will be determined after the interest check results. We will be looking for artists for page, merch, and cover, and we will also be looking for writers.
✽ How will contributors be compensated? ✽
All contributors are guaranteed a free book. Profits will go towards funding shipping and upgrading compensation to a full bundle. Any leftover profit will be evenly distributed between all zine members. In the event of being unable to fund everything, contributors will be able to purchase items at production cost.
✽ Will the zine ship to [location]? ✽
The mods are based in the United States, but we ship internationally (bar USPS restrictions). Shipping charges will apply.
Applications・The writing/art that you display in your application should showcase the quality/style of work that you are planning to produce for the zine.
・Works featuring EiTakuEi or Hundred Line characters/universe settings are highly recommended, but not necessary.
・It is preferred to include pieces in your portfolio that involve EiTakuEi, but it is not a hard requirement for ALL pieces to include just that ship.
・A link to a drive folder containing the works you would like to showcase would be preferred!
・NSFW samples are allowed, but please separate them from the main portfolio (like a subfolder) so it's not immediately visible for browsing safety, thank you!Page Artist
・Anatomy, composition, coherency: does the character look correct, is the composition of the piece interesting, and is the content of the piece understandable or visually clear?
・Backgrounds and environmental storytelling: an ability to draw full scenes that can tell a story through the setup of characters and their interactions with the environment.
・Character personality: are the characters positioned dynamically/interactively or is it a still image of a front facing character? We hope that character personality can shine through their body language and facial expression.
・For those wishing to contribute spot illustrations, character personality will be our main focus of judging alongside technical skill.
・We suggest roughly 5 - 10 pieces in your portfolio
・We are aiming to have 25 total page artistsMerch Artist
Similar to page artists, but with additional notes:
・Style will also be evaluated per individual merch type. For example, an artist who is good at making enamel pins must be able to communicate an idea using a limited palette of colors, but doesn’t need to draw backgrounds. Meanwhile, an artist who applies for prints must be able to draw backgrounds, and may not need to be good at using limited color palettes.
・We will evaluate merch artists for all merch positions the applicant selects when applying.
・We suggest roughly 5 - 10 pieces in your portfolio
・We are aiming to have 6 total merch artistsWriter
・English grammar & spelling: we will use primarily American English in the zine, but any type of English for applications is ok!
・Worldbuilding, characterization: does the characterization feel realistic and do they interact in ways that make sense? How does the dialogue flow, in relation to the personality of the character?
・Story Flow: since zines have a limited number of pages, it’s important to be able to tell a fulfilling story within a set number of words (1-2k words).
・Excerpts are fine, but we'd prefer at least 1 complete fic within word count to understand how you write at that length.
・We suggest roughly 2 - 5 pieces in your portfolio
・We are aiming to have 8-10 total writers
